The 3 Reasons Why You Need Branding For Your Business

If you own a business or run a personal brand, then you know about branding. And we all know, it’s much more than just a logo.

At first we put the importance of branding on the back burner. We want to focus on the ‘real’ work. Getting clients, posting on social media, packing orders. But having a solid foundation of branding will make all of that…10x easier.

As someone who didn’t really have any branding for quite some time, and now I do, here is why I think everyone should invest in their branding.

Also, by no means am I an expert in branding or design or anything like that!

 
 


Clarity

For you and your audience. Remember when I said branding isn’t just a logo? That’s because it’s not. Branding is also about defining what your business is. Think about what you do, who you serve, what you wan to accomplish.

For example, when I first started my brand (back in the day I was called Rachael Ruth) I went from this:

This was literally all I had…just my name written in the most used font on Canva. To this:

 
 

The design has meaning, I worked with a designer, AND before this we also created a detailed business and audience report. Talk about an upgrade!

Defining your business should be the very first step in your branding, because it directly influences the ‘aesthetic’ and design of your business. But I know, we want to think about logo’s and designs first usually.

By getting clear on the ideals of your business and who your ideal audience is, it will make everything that much easier for you and your customers.

Consistency

Once you get clear, you can get consistent. One of the purposes of branding is to create brand awareness so people will recognize your content. This comes with consistency.

By using the same color palette, the same fonts, icons, etc. Consistency will make your brand familiar and seem more professional.

When we don’t have branding, it can feel like we are starting from scratch every time. I promise it doesn’t have to be that way! You don’t have to feel like you have no control.

Create templates for everything you need in your business, so next time you just plug in, and go!

Time

I think you can tell the consistency piece leads to time. As in, less time worrying about your content and how it looks, and more time to get other things done!

By having the branding to make the templates, and not be confused on who your audience is, it saves you so. much. time. And as a business owner, time is precious and there seems to be none of it.

Moral of the story, if you don’t have branding yet for your business, GET ON IT. Because branding is more than just graphics and colors and fonts.
