Where to Buy Bullet Journal Supplies

Half the fun of bullet journaling, is shopping for stationary. With so many options to choose from nowadays of felt tip pens, journal covers, stickers, and more, it can be overwhelming.

The very first place I would look to for supplies, is your own home. I’m sure you have an unopened box of pencils and a black pen lying around. Don’t buy what you don’t need. If you come up empty, you can find basic tools at your local Walmart, Target, and Amazon as they are the most widely accessible. If you are like me and like to shop small and are looking for more custom products specifically for bullet journaling (without breaking the bank) here are some recommendations!

What do you need for bullet journaling?

For the bare bones of what you need to get started bullet journaling…

A JOURNAL

It goes without saying that your first order of business is getting a proper journal. But not just any notebook, make sure it is a dot-grid notebook. There are many variations of this; including the number of pages, the size of the pages, etc. One of the most popular bullet journal notebooks is the LEUCHTTURM1917. If you do a basic google search these will most likely be one of the top results. Every bullet journalist has probably used a variation of journal from this brand at one point or another. I’m using one for my reading journal this year!

You could also buy the journal from the original creator of the bullet journal method.

PENS, PENCILS, ETC

Once you have your journal, you need something to write with, duh! You probably already have these items at home, so don’t go buying anything fancy just yet. Any pencil will do, just make sure it has a clean eraser. Or, buy an eraser pack from the dollar store, you know those pink erasers from paper mate? Always handy to have a few of those lying around.

MARKERS

All bullet journals need some color! And the markers I recommend the most and use on the daily are the Zebra Mildliner pens. These are from Amazon (not an affiliate link) but similar ones can be found almost anywhere. The colors are perfect, they have two tips, and last FOREVER, highly recommend.

Other Bullet Journal Accessories

STICKERS

Stickers are totally optional for a bullet journal. You don’t need them but they can make it more fun, and easier, for those days you don’t feel like drafting, drawing, or outlining. You can buy sticker packs that come complete with the days of the week, numbers, letters, and any other organizational needs. Whether you go cute or practical, stickers are the next step in your bullet journal supply arsenal.

WASHI TAPE

This may be up for debate, but is washi tape a type of sticker? Is a hot dog a sandwich? I don’t know the answer to that, but I think washi tape deserves it’s own section. Washi tape, is essentially sticker tape. It’s slightly adhesive, enough to stick to a piece of paper but not much else, and comes in different designs. It’s usually a paper material and comes in a little roll. It’s another way to make your bullet journal spreads stand out and is highly used in the bujo community.

Bullet Journal Supplies Shops

Notebook Therapy

This Japanese and Korean stationary shop has over 1 million followers on Instagram and sells all the stationary you could ever need. From notebooks, pencil cases, and different bundles, when you want to place a bulk order of supplies, this is a safe bet as it’s already loved by many.

I purchased my bullet journal for 2022 from here and it was great quality! On the IG account they are always doing fun art challenges and giveaways of their products. They are a leader in the bullet journal community.

Archer and Olive

This shop is known for their journals. Most of my journals have come from this shop, and I know they will keep coming from this shop. They are the best quality in the game, come in a range of size options, and always have the cutest covers. Just because they are a smaller shop, doesn’t mean they pack any less of a punch. Archer and Olive also offers subscription boxes for the dedicated bullet journalists and are always dropping new and creative themes for their products.

Stationary Pal

Think of it like Amazon…but for stationary. With hundreds of products to choose from, you could spend hours looking at all the items on they offer. The prices are cheap, so it’s a good place to get a lot of stuff at once, especially because it ships from overseas. This shop is great for those who want to add a lot of color and girly aesthetic to their journals.

Stickii

If you want to support growing artists and unique stickers, this is the place! Stickii works with different artists to sell their designs in sticker form in all kinds of themes ranging from vintage, fantasy, food, nature, and more.

They also offer a $12 monthly sticker subscription that comes with 6+ sticker sheets, 3+ stationary pieces, and 1 storage insert. To me, that seems very worth it! I have gotten stickers from here and the storage inserts (and the stickers of course) blew me away at the quality.

Amanda Rach Lee

The OG bullet journalist, and our girl, Amanda Rach Lee has her own bujo shop! Her biggest product is the pre-designed journals and they are amazing for those who love the bujo spirit, but don’t have the time to give it their all. It’s also made to be coloring book so you can still add your own personal feel to each spread. The cover colors are perfectly pastel and the themes are well decided.

Hope this helps you get started bujo babe! Happy crafting!
